Why PRP Homes Attract Raccoons

Pleasure Ridge Park's housing stock is dominated by single-story ranch homes from the 1950s–1970s, and that matters for raccoon control: ranches have long, low rooflines and vented crawl spaces that give raccoons more ground-level entry options than two-story homes. • Winter (Dec–Feb): Raccoons push into crawl spaces through damaged foundation vents seeking warmth near ductwork.
• Spring (Mar–May): Mothers den under porches and in garages to raise kits — our busiest PRP season.
• Summer (Jun–Aug): Juveniles disperse and test weak soffits and pet doors; garbage raids peak.
• Fall (Sep–Nov): Raccoons fatten up for winter and re-open previously sealed entry points if repairs weren't done professionally.
